This Aston has two main selling points: affordable rates and a good location right across the street from Waikiki Beach. All of the hotel’s guest rooms, located in two high-rise towers, are decorated island-style, with tropical colors and teak furniture, and all are small, ranging in size from 225 to 300 square feet. The budget-minded should opt for the Mauka Tower, where the rates are lower. Rooms in the Main Tower are more deluxe, plus 85 percent of them have full or partial ocean views. Those who book the latter tower receive a complimentary “Breakfast on the Beach” each morning, basically a full to-go breakfast served in a portable container. Like the guest rooms, the hotel’s two restaurants won’t break the bank. Tiki’s Grill and Bar, an open-air dining room with a retro South Pacific design, features island cuisine. The chefs at Wolfgang Puck Express whip up sophisticated fast food in a sidewalk café setting. The hotel has a pool, but few other resort-type amenities.
