Woodland Grill and Rice House — the two main restaurants at Barnsley Resort — share the same sommelier, Greg Teague, who has been the director of food and beverage at the Forbes Travel Guide recommended hotel for more than a decade. His nickname of “Wine Snob,” affectionately given to him by the staff, doesn’t quite fit his open-minded philosophy that selecting a favorite wine is a daily decision. In addition to selecting the wines for the resort, Teague also runs a monthly wine dinner series at Rice House on Saturday evenings in the winter, inviting winemakers from vineyards featured on the list to host an evening of paired wine and food. Teague is a Certified Specialist of Wine and came to Barnsley Gardens Resort after 13 years with the Peasant Restaurants group in Atlanta.
Greg Teague offers tableside suggestions for guests as the sommelier for each dining facility at Barnsley Resort, including Woodlands Grill. As a Certified Specialist of Wine and the resort food and beverage director, he purchases all the wine and creates the wine list.
