Auburn Hills, a 1980s incorporation of the farming communities of Auburn Heights and Avon Township, recently rebuilt its downtown with brick pavers, street lamps, and charming shops. Home of the Chrysler Tech Center and dozens of other high-tech companies, the city is best known for Great Lakes Crossing, a mega-shopping mall with over 200 stores. The Detroit Pistons (NBA) and Shock (WNBA) make their home in the Palace of Auburn Hills.
