In contrast to the elegant, classic lobby with its original fireplaces, the small rooms at the century-old Mansfield are decidedly modern thanks to recent re-dos. The ebony-stained hardwood floors are complemented by shades of white and tan throughout the spaces. Comfy beds have pillow-top mattresses and 300-count linens, while bathrooms are stocked with Aveda products. You won't get much in the way of views here, but you'll find comfort in the hotel's M Bar—an intimate lounge with a domed skylight and mahogany bookshelves, as well as the beautifully restored Beaux Arts library, where you can kick back with a book or chess match by the fire. If you can't sleep or just need a quick pick-me-up, there's complimentary cappuccino, espresso, coffee and tea service around the clock in the lobby.
