Brantford is located in the heart of southwestern Ontario along the Grand River, a Canadian Heritage River. Captain Joseph Brant, leader of the Iroquois First Nations, crossed the river in 1784. It was through Native and European settlements that Brantford was born. The town is equally famous as the place where Alexander Graham Bell lived and invented the telephone.
