New England coastal cuisine with ocean views
VERIFIED LUXURY
For a memorable fine dining experience on Cape Cod, locals and visitors head to STARS at Chatham Bars Inn, where New England cuisine is elevated with a modern twist.

With stately columns, custom chandeliers and panoramic windows overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, the ambiance is as much of a draw as the food. It lends a sophisticated yet welcoming vibe to the dining room.

Executive chef Anthony Cole delivers delightfully balanced dishes to please every palate, whether it’s a dry-aged striploin steak, Rohan duck or a salad selection. Locavores and seafood lovers will not be disappointed: the local fish, oysters, clams and scallops are landed just a stone’s throw away from the hotel, and the kitchen uses fresh local produce form the Inn’s farm whenever possible. After dinner, you'll be rewarded with a selection from STARS' creative dessert menu.

Our Inspector's Highlights
  • With a staff equipped with decades of dining experience (much of it gathered at STARS itself), the restaurant is known for its impeccable service and attention to detail.
  • The best table at Four-Star STARS is undoubtedly one along the floor-to-ceiling windows. If you’re dining during daylight hours, you’ll have a great view of the ocean. At night, the resort sparkles under carefully positioned white lights.
  • The hotel purchased its own farm in 2012, with the culinary team overseeing plans for its bounty. You can see the goods firsthand on your plate all year round.
  • There's food for every craving. If you wan t meat, choose a 30-day dry-aged striploin, wild boar or Rohan duck. Or opt for one of the seafood entrées, like seared scallops, or the vegetable tagine.
  • Leave room for a sweet ending to your meal because the dessert menu is a delight. From simple pleasures like housemade Cape Cod ice cream and sorbet to more complicated concoctions such as the chocolate-banana rocher with caramelized banana, dark chocolate mousse, hazelnuts and espresso Chantilly, STARS' pastry chefs know how to put the exclamation point on a memorable dinner.
Things to Know
  • Regardless of what time of year you visit, reservations are recommended to dine at STARS for dinner.
  • The dress code at STARS does not permit beachwear or flip-flops, but nice jeans and sandals are acceptable.
  • The Cape Cod restaurant offers its own Cocktail Lounge in the winter. If you’re looking to have a drink before dinner, choose from one of the other onsite bars: on a warm summer evening, head outdoors to Beach House Grill, Bayview Terrace or Veranda. In the cooler months, stay inside at The Sacred Cod Tavern.

The Food
  • Some standout starter courses include the yellowfin tuna, dry-aged beef tartare and wild mushroom salad.
  • The restaurant's proximity to the water makes seafood an enticing option. Offerings include oysters on the half shell, clams, scallops and a fish of the day.
  • Stop by STARS for breakfast, which includes dishes like a lobster Benedict and Jonah crab on honey wheat toast with avocado, cucumber, jalapeño, farm greens and poached eggs. A breakfast buffet is also available.
