Executive Trainer (Asia)

The Executive Trainer is a dynamic individual who combines a successful and in-depth training background with demonstrated strengths in hospitality, public speaking, relationship building and delivery of an exceptional learning and development product. This role includes executing contracted hotel, restaurant and spa training to properties around the globe; a considerable working knowledge of Forbes Travel Guide standards and its Star-Rated properties; acting as a representative and ambassador of FTG at all times; and enhancing and creating additional resources for the Learning & Development training library.

In addition, the Executive Trainer will assist with developing programs for clients, as well as continued enhancement of Learning & Development offerings.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a defined number of hotel, restaurant and spa training sessions to hospitality clients around the globe
  • Conduct classroom training to departmental groups within each client property to represent and interpret the Forbes Travel Guide standards for hotel, spa and restaurant ratings
  • Communicate both internally and externally as necessary for training preparations; work with the client to determine agenda, recommended attendance and overall logistical planning
  • Facilitate training classes with sensitivity to group dynamics and Star Rating level to create a positive and motivating learning environment
  • Have a follow-up consultation with the client to determine future needs in regards to trainings or evaluations; integral support in retaining and obtaining future business
  • Complete follow-up summaries and send via email to SVP of Learning & Development
  • Perform a number of unannounced inspections of FTG Four- and Five-Star properties as needed

Skills Required

  • A strong command of English and fluency in Mandarin or Cantonese
  • An extensive background and knowledge of operations within the hospitality industry, specifically in the luxury hotel, spa and restaurant markets
  • Substantial travel experience at the luxury level
  • A unique blend of business acumen, technical aptitude and strong organizational skills; effective at multi-tasking and working as both an individual and as a team
  • Proactive, insightful, independent thinker; highly efficient; and possesses a refined attention to detail
  • Flexible and can easily adapt to changing priorities on notice
  • Excellent managerial skills and proven record of strong client relationship building
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong and confident presentation style

Independent Contractor Evaluator (Western Europe)

Forbes Travel Guide seeks a Western Europe-based independent contractor incognito evaluator to work on its annual Star Ratings and client evaluations. Our professional team of evaluators travels the world to assess hotels, restaurants and spas based on 900 objective standards that determine our coveted annual Star Ratings and provide feedback to industry clients on a regular basis.

The person in this role will be responsible for gathering all information required to conduct and complete reports for assigned evaluations. The independent contractor is compensated per evaluation executed. Though the ideal candidate will be based in Western Europe, the position involves extensive travel.

  • Execute unannounced incognito evaluations by objectively answering pre-determined standards and submitting reports to home office; writing style of reports is straightforward, factual.
  • Manage travel itinerary based on assignment; complete evaluations in a cost-effective manner, following departmental policies and procedures.
  • Maintain meticulous notes regarding property and logistics to assist evaluation planning department in future execution.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and home office to ensure timely and accurate reporting; regular communication required with U.S.-based headquarters and fellow team members.
  • Position requires consumption of food and drink as required for evaluation purposes.
  • When assigned, conduct post-evaluation debrief discussing high-level strengths and areas of opportunity with client leadership. Evaluator must be able to articulate the experience and maintain a strong understanding of Forbes Travel Guide standards.
  • Maintain a professional and appropriate demeanor on behalf of Forbes Travel Guide.
  • Flexible availability. Weekend/weekday; international travel required.

Skills Required

  • Hospitality experience (luxury hospitality experience preferred)
  • Strong writing skills required; experience or familiarity with luxury travel and writing about travel, spa, food, wine, style or design preferred
  • Low profile; preferred candidates do not have prominent social media personalities or an online presence connecting them to the industry, including bylines. Chosen candidates will be required to maintain a low profile and possibly reduce their online profiles.
  • Ability to multitask and handle significant daily deadlines
  • Extremely organized, mature, self-motivated and independent worker
  • Detail orientated with a strong ability to keep meticulous records and prepare accurate reports both manually and through electronic channels
  • Well-traveled globally, experience traveling independently
  • Strong communication skills
  • Exceptional English speaking/writing abilities; knowledge of French/Spanish/Italian preferred
  • Technologically proficient
  • Experience with Forbes Travel Guide standards and reports a plus
