A heart-healthy option is easy to find on the menu at The Ocean Room, a Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star restaurant tucked inside The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island Golf Resort. Chef Jason Rheinwald participates in Charleston’s health movement, dubbed “Heart Healthy in the Holy City.” At all times, at least one menu item will be marked with the organization’s signature icon, the heart. In order to be designated heart healthy by the organization, a dish must remain between a range of calories and fat grams. Typically this menu item is a fish dish not prepared in oil or butter. Other lower calorie options include salad starters and lean cuts of meat such as the petite strip loin. If you’re counting calories, ask to speak to the chef about how each dish is prepared.
