If bad weather rules out spending the day on The Broadmoor’s golf courses or tennis courts, take cover with some indoor activities. With more than 20 boutiques, galleries and specialty stores, the Shops at The Broadmoor will keep you busy browsing. Movie buffs get a kick out of the Main Complex’s theater, which screens three different new releases per week (all films are PG-13 or lower, so bring the kiddies). Catch a flick every evening; matinees are added in inclement weather. And even if your sole goal is to do absolutely nothing, you might change your mind upon encountering any of the tables inlaid with board games that are scattered around the Five-Star hotel’s myriad lobbies.
The Broadmoor has a movie theater that features family-rated films. There is dancing Thursday through Sunday nights at both the Tavern and Penrose Room restaurants. Concierge has family games and Wii systems for guests to use in room. Weekend cooking demonstrations are held in summer and during holidays at Cheyenne Gourmet. A self-guided tour of The Broadmoor’s western art collection is available at Concierge. In winter, two tennis courts are covered and available for play and there is an indoor pool at in the Spa building, as well as a fitness center with daily classes and fitness professionals available. The Spa has a wide array of treatments; the Salon is available for haircuts, color and styling as well as for manicures and pedicures and personalized makeup application.
