At any given time, Penrose Room’s seasonally changing prix fixe menu does include a few vegetarian and vegan options. Usually, at least a couple of appetizers and one entrée are meatless, such as herbed ricotta ravioli with peppers, onions and olive cream. The cheese plate is always available for a supplemental fee as well. However, since the choices are admittedly limited, you might consider making a special menu request when you call for reservations; the chef can and does accommodate both vegetarians and vegans. Executive chef Bertrand Bouquin uses classic French techniques to prepare seasonal ingredients in inventive ways at Penrose Room, but part of the reason the restaurant earned a Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star rating comes from its ability to cater menus to your specific needs.
With the menu changing seasonally at Penrose Room, the vegetarian and vegan dishes vary. Some examples of the types of vegetarian and vegan items are cream of white asparagus soup, mesclun greens salad, warm goat cheese salad, selection of cheese plates and five-herb and ricotta ravioli. Executive Chef Bertrand Bouquin is always willing to create a unique dish for the guest from other vegetables and risottos that are on the menu. He can also make a special vegan dish on request.
