What’s the best time to visit The Blackwell?

Given The Blackwell’s spectacular proximity to the Ohio Stadium, it should come as no surprise that the 151 rooms fill up almost immediately for home football game weekends. If you want to score a spot, be sure to call within the first hour or two after they go on sale the Tuesday after the BCS National Championship Game in January. Likewise, graduation weekend at The Ohio State University books solid in less than an hour after sales open, and move-in weekend is another big one for the Forbes Travel Guide Recommended hotel.

Fortunately, being on a college campus means that summer months and major holidays usually have good availability, as most students go home to visit their families, not the other way around. Colder Ohio winters also mean good availability in Columbus’s hotels. The city offers a great variety of events and festivals during these off months, including the Arnold Sports Festival in late February/early March, the Memorial Tournament in late May/early June, the Ohio State Fair in late July/early August, and the Dublin Irish Festival in August.
