The Westin Columbus offers a few restaurants, depending on the time of day and whether a show is playing at the Southern Theatre. For a quick morning pastry or Starbucks coffee, swing by the coffee kiosk near the front desk. High Street Grill is primarily used as the hotel’s sit-down breakfast spot, with continental options, a hot breakfast buffet as well as a regular assortment of pancakes, waffles and egg dishes. Lunch also is available here, with various appetizers, salads, sandwiches, pizzas and small entrées on the menu. Dinner is served on Southern Theatre show nights.
On a standard day or evening, however, guests should head to Thurber’s on the other side of the lobby. This bar and restaurant is named for Columbus author and cartoonist James Thurber. The dining area is appropriately decorated with large-scale Thurber cartoons and drawings. The contemporary American, upscale bar-style menu has offerings similar to those of High Street Grill. Popular items include the duck confit flatbread and sweet potato risotto. Also be sure to try the bar’s drink of the month; the seasonal concoctions are always palate-pleasing and often feature local breweries and distilleries.
