MGM Grand Detroit does have 24-hour room service, but only on Fridays and Saturdays, when the hotel and casino are much busier than during the week. If you’re staying at the hotel Sunday through Thursday, you’ll have to be content with room service between the hours of 6 a.m. and 11 p.m. Breakfast is served from 6 to 11 a.m. and offers selections such as made-to-order omelets, steel-cut oatmeal with apple compote and buttermilk pancakes with seasonal berries. The all-day dining menu runs from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. (or, as we mentioned, all the way until 6 a.m. on weekends), and includes American favorites like create-your-own pizzas, burgers, grilled cheese, fried chicken wings, Michigan’s Maurice salad and shrimp cocktail for appetizers. Entrées prove a little more upscale — you’ll find hearty plates like pan-seared salmon with penne and leeks, spinach and tomato, and a surprisingly tasty chicken fettuccine Alfredo with asparagus, crimini mushrooms and Parmesan cream. And don’t forget dessert; we found that Caribbean pineapple key lime pie custard and bananas Foster cheesecake taste noticeably better eaten in bed at 1 a.m. And even if you are staying at the hotel mid-week and need some late-night sustenance, parts of Breeze Dining Court in the casino are open until the wee hour of 4 a.m.
