If you fancy a swim, head to the second floor of MGM Grand Detroit, where you’ll discover a large indoor swimming pool with a few choice amenities. Our favorite amenities include the roomy chaise lounges and the option to order a light lunch or dinner. Enjoy dishes like a Caesar salad, sautéed crab cakes, a burger, a chocolate truffle torte along with assorted beverages from soft drinks to wine. One flight up, meanwhile, near the entrance to the gym, you’ll find a table with complimentary copies of USA Today and Detroit Free Press, plus a tiered tray of plums, apples and oranges alongside urns of water and iced tea should you need reading material or refreshments. The pool you’ll discover the locker rooms, which boast a spacious steam room as well as a whirlpool hot tub. Although the pool’s water temperature is on the brisk side, we really like the mod, 1960s feel to the space, which features stone and wood-paneled walls, plank floors, deck chairs and white chaise lounges, and globe light fixtures. Should the bustle of the casino floor get to be too much, pop away to the MGM Grand Detroit pool for a moment or two of tranquility.
