For those seeking a Detroit night on the town, look no further than Caucus Club, Iridescence Club or Whitney. All restaurants will deliver top-notch cuisine paired with beautiful views of Motor City.
1. Caucus Club. You can get cozy in Caucus Club, a Detroit classic. The space is pretty dark, save for the soft glow of Tiffany-style lamps. Fun fact, the queen of romantic ballads, Barbra Streisand, got her start singing at this restaurant, one of her first paying gigs.
2. Iridescence Restaurant. Although Iridescence Restaurant resides inside the bustling MotorCity Casino, you’ll forget about the gaming chaos when you sit in the sophisticated, airy room and peer out the wall of windows and take in the view of Detroit from the 17th-floor restaurant. The seasonal, organic, artfully present cuisine perfectly complements the swanky atmosphere. Be sure to save room for one of the sugary works of art created by award-winning pastry chef Patricia Nash.
3. Whitney. Housed in what was once the home of lumber baron David Whitney, Jr., this mansion built in 1984 out of South Dakota Jasper (a rare pink granite) was designed in the Romanesque style of architecture. Once inside, you’ll find Tiffany stained-glass windows and crystal chandeliers. The menu features fish, beef, seafood and lamb and includes like blue cheese soufflé with pecans and apple vinaigrette or Great Lakes whitefish with melted tomato and crispy potato. Enjoy these updated versions of traditional favorites in a variety of rooms, including the Music Room, Library or Asian Room.
