This family-style stop sits inside the market building at Faneuil Hall and has done
so since 1827, so act impressed. It draws visitors from every part of the world
who settle into its checkered-cloth-covered picnic tables for down-and-dirty lobster
bakes. Where else can you rub elbows (literally) with a family from Texas while
digging into a plate of fried clams and a pot of baked beans? The menu carries
everything from chicken fingers to New England corned beef and cabbage. Keep
it simple and be sure to save room for the homemade Indian pudding. In the main
dining room upstairs, mealtime can be loud and messy, while downstairs in the bar,
there’s always a game on one of the TVs and plenty of Sam Adams Lager on tap.
