The best thing to bring home from Edmonton is a locally crafted item picked up at one of the many farmers markets or craft markets that happen year-round. The city is home to many talented artists and artisans, some of whom showcase their wares at City Market Downtown (Saturdays, on 4th Street Promenade during summer and inside City Hall during the winter) or the Old Strathcona Farmers Market (Saturdays in the Old Bus Barns). The Royal Bison Art & Craft Fair happens twice yearly and features the cream of Edmonton’s young designers and crafters. The Alberta Craft Council Gallery & Shop downtown carries work by some of the province’s top artists, and the gift shop at the Art Gallery of Alberta also features handmade items by locals.
