The restaurant that started the Emeril Lagasse empire in New Orleans now has a home at MGM Grand. The same spunk that Lagasse exudes on television is present in the fun dining room (complete with a 14-foot wrought-iron fish sculpture to greet you at the entrance), even if its namesake chef isn’t always behind the burners. Focused heavily on Creole and Cajun flavors, the menu is both home-style and sophisticated, elevating low country cuisine. The seafood gumbo is a stand-out starter, as is the signature New Orleans barbecue shrimp. A hearty lunch requires little more than the seafood pan roast, which is full of fresh seafood, jambalaya and a butter sauce spiked with Emeril’s own herb essence.
