About Enfield, Connecticut:
Located on the Connecticut River, Enfield was an important embarking point for flat-bottom boats transporting wares to Springfield, Massachusetts, in the 18th century. The Enfield Society for the Detection of Horse Thieves and Robbers was founded here over a century ago. Jonathan Edwards, a famous theologian, delivered his fire and brimstone sermon "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God" here in 1741.
