Christopher Kostow takes a thoughtful approach to food that belies his age. Masterfully blending contemporary French cuisine with the farm-to-table tradition, Kostow creates a transcendent experience for diners every night at The Restaurant at Meadowood. Kostow, a Chicago native, trained in kitchens far and wide: from a Paris bistro to the Michelin-starred Le Jardin des Sens in Montpellier. Upon returning to the States, Kostow worked as sous chef under Daniel Humm in San Francisco. He soon became top toque at Chez TJ in Mountain View, California. Kostow joined Meadowood in February of 2008, Christopher maintained two Michelin Stars, was nominated for Best Chef, Pacific, by the James Beard Society and named as one of Food & Wine Magazine’s Best New Chefs 2009. In October 2011, Kostow retained three stars from Michelin, and is the second American-born chef and third youngest chef ever to do so.

    The Restaurant at Meadowood is our culinary showplace, featuring California Wine Country cuisine and one of the most comprehensive lists of Napa Valley wines in the world. Meadowood’s founding partner and owner of Harlan Estate, H. William Harlan, has made an exclusive offering for The Restaurant of his 2007 and 2008 vintages of Harlan Estate in half bottles. In addition, he continues to support The Restaurant with a deep vertical selection of wines from Harlan Estate and BOND Estates. His partner in Meadowood, Stan Kroenke, owner of Screaming Eagle, offers the winery’s sauvignon blanc, also exclusively to The Restaurant.

    The Restaurant at Meadowood offers a full bar, including classic, sparkling and contemporary cocktails. One of the sparkling cocktails, the Grand Mimosa, gives the traditional drink a twist by preparing it with 150-year Grand Marnier, orange bitters, sugar and mandarin rind.

    The Restaurant at Meadowood offers wine pairings for each course for an additional $225 per person. Guests may also request wine pairings prepared by Michael Ireland, our wine director, for an additional fee for the chef’s counter experience in the kitchen. Offerings may consist of very unique selections of Harlan Estate and Screaming Eagle. Ireland is available to work directly with guests, involving them in the construction of their beverage pairing for the evening.

    The Restaurant at Meadowood has a newly redesigned bar. It features new furniture, including wicker and leather chairs and bronze floor lamps. Decorative mesh-iron doors for the bar were designed and fabricated by JJ Forge, a small, family-owned business specializing in custom hand-forged iron art. Adjacent to The Restaurant bar is the Terrace. We invite you to relax at either spot while enjoying a cocktail or a glass of wine from our extensive wine list.

    What is the menu like at The Restaurant at Meadowood?

    The Restaurant at Meadowood offers a chef's tasting menu each evening of nine or 10 courses, which changes seasonally. Each dish focuses on using the freshest of ingredients. What excites us most is the concept of curation: creating bespoke menus that speak to each guest's individual preferences and sense of adventure.     At The Restaurant at Meadowood, all dishes are served on locally sourced pottery and woodwork. Wine Country-based Lynn Mahon has created a series of plates and ceramics; local woodworker Bretton Newsom has designed mignardise boxes out of local walnut especially for The Restaurant. Table chargers designed by Nikki Ballere Callnan at her All Media Art/NBC Pottery resemble oyster shells. The overall effect is that each course acts as its own vignette.
