Maria Wittorp-DeJonge is the Chef Concierge of The St. Regis New York, the landmark hotel located in the heart of Midtown Manhattan, where she has been an associate since 1991.
Inspired by her father, a concierge who worked at the same hotel in Sweden for 32 years, Maria fell in love with the hospitality industry often electing to spend her summer breaks working at his side. To develop this passion, Maria studied Hotel Management in Germany. After graduating, Maria moved to the Unites States where she was hired to join the opening team of Maitre d’Etages at The St. Regis New York. During Maria’s first year at the landmark hotel, Countess Raine Spencer, step-mother of the late Princess Diana, requested the same Maitre d’Etage during her week-long stay at The St. Regis New York, and Maria had the honor of assisting her. Maria’s gracious and attentive service was noticed by the hotel’s Chef Concierge who hand selected her to join his team. After just 14 months as a Maitre d’Etage, Maria stepped behind the Concierge Desk and has never looked back. She found her calling.
Maria’s exceptional service and dedication to her profession has earned her membership in the prestigious Les Clef’s d’Or, the only international association of concierges, where she served on the Board of Directors from 2002-2006. Maria is a founding members of Les Clefs d’Or “Meet the Mentor” program and has been recognized with the industry’s highest honors, including the Silver Plum Chef Concierge of the Year Award and the Big Apple Awards’ Hotel Employee of the Year.
A true citizen of the world, Maria has called Sweden, Israel, France, Germany and the United States home. She speaks five languages and loves to travel with her two children, Erik and Lydia. Wherever Maria visits, she always looks forward to returning to The St. Regis New York for the hotel’s King Cole Bar Burger. And alongside her all Les Clefs d’Or concierge team she delights the guest with the insider knowledge of NYC that she has acquired over the last 25 years.
