What is brunch like at The Polo Lounge?

Sunday brunch at The Polo Lounge is a relaxed and leisurely affair with a live jazz trio playing throughout the day. Brunch is available from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a three-course menu featuring Polo Lounge favorites and specialties such as the smoked salmon scramble, challah French toast, McCarthy salad, Tuna BLT and Polo Lounge burger. The menu changes seasonally but always features a host of options — the same goes for cocktails, which range from bellinis and bloodies to Ramos fizzes and sangria. A drink of your choice is included with your prix-fixe meal.

What is the breakfast menu like at The Polo Lounge?

Breakfast at The Polo Lounge is a particularly important affair as many movie-industry wheelers and dealers are at the restaurant to talk shop. You may find them digging into small bites like the housemade granola or lox and bagels, but many opt for the Deal Maker Complete Breakfast, which includes three eggs any style, three silver dollar pancakes, breakfast meats and hash browns. Others might opt for the Dutch apple pancakes served with sour cream and heirloom apples. The lounge also offers several griddle creations, including waffles and challah bread French toast, and an omelette bar and eggs Benedict bar.

Are there any signature desserts at The Polo Lounge?

The most signature dessert at The Polo Lounge is the chocolate soufflé, which is only available on the dinner dessert menu. It's topped with a Beverly Hills Hotel white chocolate logo. Of course, you can still choose from other traditional and indulgent desserts such as the warm molten chocolate bread pudding and the warm apple galette with caramel ice cream. On the lighter side, there’s a selection of homemade sorbets — think mango, lemon and coconut — and an artisanal American cheese plate served with accompaniments, local honey and toasted baguette slices.

What vegetarian and vegan dishes does The Polo Lounge offer?

Vegetarian and vegan dishes are available at The Polo Lounge, but mostly on the lunch menu, which features chopped salads and soups like gazpacho. One veggie favorite is the West Hollywood salad, a mix of quinoa, farro, kale, spinach, garbanzo beans, golden raisins and feta cheese with lemon vinaigrette. The dinner menu does have a few salads as well, plus plenty of seafood dishes for those vegetarians who enjoy fish. And you can’t go wrong with the sides here, which feature local vegetables; try the sautéed spinach with garlic and crispy shallots, and the steamed local broccoli and cauliflower.

What is the lunch menu like at The Polo Lounge?

The California cuisine-inflected lunch menu at The Polo Lounge features soups, entrée-size chopped salads, sandwiches, burgers and pastas. Looking for a Hollywood classic? Order the McCarthy salad (romaine hearts, chicken, eggs, beets, tomatoes, cheddar cheese, bacon and avocado). What is the chef at The Polo Lounge’s food philosophy?

The food at The Polo Lounge is New American with traditional influences. Executive chef Kaleo Adams was one of the first North American hotel chefs to embrace the slow food movement, and he was an early champion of the role that local farmers markets can play in hotel restaurant operations. He has long been passionate about utilizing local, sustainable foods and ingredients, and his menu plans for The Beverly Hills Hotel’s Polo Lounge further capitalize upon the spectacular harvest that California offers — already a highlight of the restaurant’s dining menus.

What are the five best things to order at The Polo Lounge?

Some of The Polo Lounge’s signature dishes have been constant and beloved fixtures on the restaurant’s menu for decades, including:

    1. McCarthy salad. Named for a polo-player patron, this salad features romaine lettuce, chicken, eggs, red beets, tomatoes, cheddar cheese, applewood-smoked bacon, avocado and balsamic vinaigrette.

    2. Tortilla soup. The starter is packed with grilled chicken, queso fresco, green onion, avocado and crispy tortilla strips.

    3. West Hollywood salad. A crunchy creation, this lunch salad features quinoa, farro, kale, spinach, mizuna, garbanzo beans, hearts of palm, golden raisins, toasted sunflower seeds, feta cheese and preserved-lemon vinaigrette.

    4. Dutch apple pancakes. This breakfast specialty is served with sour cream and heirloom apples.

    5. 10-oz. prime rib eye. One of the pricier dinner options, the rib eye is worth it. Enjoy the cut with whipped potatoes, roasted mushrooms, grilled balsamic red onions and Bordelaise sauce.

Does The Polo Lounge have any special views?

The Beverly Hills Hotel, also known as The Pink Palace, was built to be a lush oasis in Los Angeles. And in The Polo Lounge’s main dining room, large glass windows — that are retractable, no less — overlook a beautiful patio, which is surrounded by lush greenery with bougainvillea draping over the exterior alcoves. Beyond the flora, part of The Polo Lounge’s charm is simply being around beautiful and influential people, so there’s a definite see-and-be-seen factor here too. As much as you’re enjoying the views, you’re also a part of them.
