What is the price range for a meal at The Polo Lounge?

Part of The Polo Lounge’s appeal is the space and its legacy, which means you are paying for ambience as much as the food (which is quite good). Breakfast items range from $9 for a glass of OJ to $35 for a complete spread, which includes a combination of eggs, pancakes and fruit along with coffee or tea and juice. For lunch, the herb-and-Parmesan fries start at $9 and the caviar runs $180, but most salads, sandwiches and burgers range between $25 and $39. Dinner entrees, such as seared halibut and lamb loin, range between $34 and $55.

Is The Polo Lounge a good place for group dining?

The Polo Lounge does accommodate groups, especially by seating them within its circular banquettes, but in general, the charming, intimate vibe of the restaurant makes it more appropriate for smaller groups, couples or business lunches and cocktails. You’ll see plenty of the latter here; seven decades after its opening, The Polo Lounge is still one of the most popular places to make a deal in Hollywood.

The Beverly Hills Hotel does have several other dining venues and lounges that might be more relaxed and appropriate for a group, including Bar Nineteen12.

What are five things I should know about The Polo Lounge?

The Polo Lounge, opened in 1941, continues to retain its reputation as the place to people-watch and spot stars — in a relaxed and refined manner, of course. Five things you should know about the perennial hot spot are:

    1. The mature crowd is a mix of entertainment-industry wheelers and dealers, socialites, celebrities and international jet-setters.

    2. There are several dining areas and rooms that comprise the lounge, including an outdoor patio with white wrought-iron tables.

    3. There’s live music and entertainment almost all day long; expect a pianist or singer-guitarist.

    4. Several dishes, such as the Dutch apple pancakes and tortilla soup, are legendarily famous in their own right and have appeared on the menu for decades.

    5. The Polo Lounge is undergoing a careful renovation under designer Adam Tihany, but it will remain open during this two-year period.

What are the relaxation lounges like at The Beverly Hills Hotel Spa?

Since The Beverly Hills Hotel Spa by La Prairie serves mostly as an urban day spa, there is no formal relaxation lounge. Instead, guests are welcome to spend some quiet time in the waiting area to really relax and prepare their body and mind for their treatment. Of course, the sauna and steam room are also open and available to all spa guests. Meanwhile, the hotel’s sister spa at the Hotel Bel-Air — the Hotel Bel-Air Spa by La Prairie — has a more resort-like feel with relaxation lounge.

What is the waiting area like at The Beverly Hills Hotel Spa?

The waiting area at The Beverly Hills Hotel Spa by La Prairie is an intimate sitting and lounging space with a few bucket-style leather armchairs. It might feel a bit small, but it’s a fittingly standard size for a city hotel. Still, you’ll find the requisite reading material along with ice water and teas. Upon arriving at the spa reception, you are walked through doors past the waiting area to the locker room; you’re invited to return and wait in the sitting space once you’ve changed.
