Where is The Restaurant at Goodstone located?

The Restaurant at Goodstone is located at Goodstone Inn & Restaurant, a 265-acre estate in Middleburg, Virginia. The hotel is inside a 100-year-old farm and carriage house. Stable stalls line the courtyard entrance, where once horses were loaded and offloaded for riding. The restaurant and guest suites sit on top of a hill overlooking the farm, located on the outskirts of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Middleburg, which played a role in both the Revolutionary and Civil wars, is in the heart of Virginia wine and horse country. Most weekends, the town is a destination for wine tastings, antique shopping and horse riding. The French farm-to-table restaurant is a short distance from Washington, D.C., about 50 miles, and it’s within close proximity to Dulles International Airport, 25 miles away.

How do I get a reservation at The Restaurant at Goodstone?

Reservations are required for brunch, lunch and dinner at The Restaurant at Goodstone. Breakfast is reserved for guests of Goodstone Inn & Restaurant (where the restaurant is located) and bookings aren’t necessary. On Sundays, a $39 prix fixe champagne brunch is served and includes some bubbly, a mimosa or a Bloody Mary. When making your reservation, keep in mind that during seasonal months, some of the best seats are outside on the patio. Otherwise, go for a table by the restaurant’s windows. If you’re lucky, you will catch the sun setting at dinner.

Children 10 and under are not allowed at dinner. Because the dining room is small, parties generally cannot exceed more than eight guests per table. Reservations are accepted either by phone (540-687-3333) or online with OpenTable.

Private parties can also be hosted in the Carriage House’s wine cellar. The stone hideaway seats about a dozen guests. A reservation fee is required for the room, and special wine pairings and tastings can be arranged.

What is the dress code at The Restaurant at Goodstone?

The dress code at The Restaurant at Goodstone is smart casual, meaning jeans and sneakers are not permitted in the dining room. But remember, many guests are on vacation here, so the overall mood and style in the dining room is relaxed. Men can wear a collared shirt or sports coat, and women a comfortable blouse and slacks or dress. Expect dinner to be a bit more formal than breakfast, lunch or Sunday brunch. If you’re looking for a more casual dining option, the restaurant's bar is a great place to sit. There’s a limited bar menu with a few high-top tables. The French farm-to-table restaurant is also a popular destination for special occasions, such as weddings, anniversaries and private dinners, so you may see diners more dressed up.
