The Fairmont wrapped up renovations in June 2008, and with
them came a change from traditional chintzes and furniture
to mid-century modern neutrals and striped wallpaper. While
the hotel is still in transition (you may still spot those classic
florals in some of the hallways and common areas), rooms
are an updated retreat with flat-screen TVs and remodeled
bathrooms with natural stone tile and rainshowers. If Danish
modern isn’t your thing, ditch your Ikea room and head to
the new mySpa for a customized massage. The relaxing spa
is all about the details: It uses vegan nail polish and pipes
your iPod’s music into the treatment room, with nary a stripe
in sight.
