When Pretty Woman needs her beauty sleep, she reserves a pillow at the Four Seasons. Julia Roberts praised the hotel’s plush beds on her pal Oprah’s show. Luckily, the 2006 and 2007 renovations didn’t do away with the comfy beds. They have turned the guest rooms’ traditional English country décor into a contemporary spin on 1940s French design, with flowery prints being replaced with rich browns, deep blue hues and shimmery silvers, and new leather window seats in many rooms overlooking Lake Michigan and the Gold Coast. The lobby, grand ballroom, restaurants, and the larger suites and apartments
will see updates in early 2009. Two things that haven’t changed: the wonderful, personal service, and the location. It’s situated just above Bloomingdale’s and other stores in the 900 North Michigan building, so head downstairs to make your own Pretty Woman shopping montage.
