Housed in a restored 250-year-old landmark adobe building, Geronimo (the name
of the restaurant is an ode to the hacienda’s original owner, Geronimo Lopez) offers
robust Southwestern-spiked global fusion fare in a stunning and cozy space. Owners
Cliff Skoglund and Chris Harvey treat each guest like family. The interior is like a
Georgia O’Keeffe painting come to life, with its wood-burning cove-style fireplace,
tall chocolate-and-garnet-leather seating and local Native American-style artwork
decorating the walls. The food is remarkable, fusing the distinct culinary influences
of Asia, the Southwest and the Mediterranean. Vibrant flavors, bright colors, and top-notch
seasonal and regional ingredients come together in dishes such as Maryland
soft-shell tempura crabs with soba noodle and Asian pear salad, or mesquite-grilled
New York strip steak with French onion tart and polenta fries with green peppercorn
and mustard sauce. When it’s warm outside, sit on the patio for prime Canyon Road
people-watching.
