Greenville has several hundred manufacturing plants producing clothing, nylon, chemicals, plastic film, and machinery. It is best known for its numerous textile plants. Yet the town is also well named--beautiful trees line the streets, and there are many forested parks in the area. The Reedy River, passing over falls in the heart of Greenville, originally provided the city's power. Pleasant streets now border the twisting Sylvan Stream.
