If it weren’t for the cityscape and bucolic California murals
on the wall, you might not even remember Harris’ is in San
Francisco. The huge leather banquettes, traditional, dry
martinis and classic dishes like steak Diane, Kobe rib-eye
and prime rib (accompanied by sides like béarnaise sauce,
baked potatoes and creamed spinach) make for tried-andtrue
steakhouse success, no matter where you are. The proudly touted “corn-fed Midwestern beef” is hardly California cuisine, but other
local touches include a wine list that’s enormous, California-heavy and very, very
good.
