In one of the greenest cities in the country, it only makes sense to stay at an eco-friendly hotel. This one is partially powered by solar panels, cleaned with less-toxic detergents and certified green by the city. That doesn’t mean you’ll sacrifice comfort, though. The eclectic room décor blends Lucite lamps with Moroccan furniture, pulled together with a palette of persimmon, baby blue and teal. The onsite restaurant, Saha, dishes up vegetarian- friendly Yemeni cuisine in a spicy, sexy setting. Note that it’s a short walk to the Theater District and Union Square, and while the location is safe, heading a few blocks south can be dicey.
