Blackberry Farm owner Kreis Beall deserves much credit for the high country English and Southern style of the pastoral estate. Since 1976, Kreis has transformed the look and feel of Blackberry from its early days as a six-room country inn to the larger 62-room luxury resort that it is today.
Each guest room, cottage and home is uniquely decorated with high-end furnishings and country comforts. We especially liked the detailed woodwork, handpicked artwork and antiques, and wood-burning fireplaces throughout the Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star hotel.
The red, Gambrel-style culinary barn is a unique focal point on the pastoral estate. The Barn has an 1800s look and feel to it and beckons guests to step inside for some mouth-watering foothills cuisine.
Beall was careful to combine man-made elements with the natural surroundings of the farm, too. We especially liked the 155-foot outdoor stone terrace and rocking chairs at the Main House. It’s a perfect place to relax and enjoy the breath-taking views of the Smoky Mountains.
