Though Koh Samui is not the best place in Thailand for stocking up on Thai handicrafts and antiques — get those in the markets of Bangkok or Chiang Mai — this well-touristed island does have its fair share of adorable, locally run shops and boutiques where you can pick up postcards, t-shirts and other souvenirs at reasonable prices. Our Forbes Travel Guide editors’ favorite things to bring home from Koh Samui, however, are those items you’ll make good use of both while you’re on vacation and once you get home; think cheap, imitation sunglasses, fashionable swimwear and big, fluffy beach towels. If you have a backyard with trees, a handmade cotton hammock that can be strung up as a relaxing reminder of your trip to Koh Samui is also a good buy here.
