The best way to see Lake Charles in one day is by car since all of Lake Charles is accessible by this mode of transportation and there are plenty of parking spaces available, especially in the downtown area. Begin your day with breakfast at Le Peep (order the eggs Benedict) on Ryan Street. Then follow Ryan Street to the downtown area for an art exhibit at 1911 Historic City Hall Arts & Cultural Center, or visit the Imperial Calcasieu Museum on West Sallier Street for a first-hand look at Southwest Louisiana's history and Cajun heritage. For lunch, head to Pujo Street Cafe for its shrimp bisque. After lunch, take Interstate 210 to L'Auberge Casino Resort for a relaxing time at Spa du Lac or take in a round of golf at Contraband Bayou. For dinner, leave your car in the Lake Charles Civic Center parking lot and take a J&R Carriage ride to 121 Artisan Bistro. After dinner, if it's not too late, have J&R Carriage pick you up for a tour around the city's Charpentier Historic District.
