The Palazzo Resort Hotel Casino co-hosted the 2012 Winter in Venice festival with sister property The Venetian Resort Hotel Casino from Nov. 18 to Jan. 6. Inside the Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star hotels, the stunning red and white décor let you know that you needed a little Christmas.
If you ventured into the shopping area and the multi-story waterfall called The Palazzo Waterfall Gardens, majestic white crystal-and-pearl peacocks were on display and available for photo opportunities. The garden included ice branches and a truly breathtaking 20-foot frosted birch, as were the crystal “ice” ponds that shimmered in the distance.
In the lobby, “elves” gave away hot apple cider while characters, including white vine-covered Christmas creatures on stilts, prowled the casino floor. The ice-skating rink by The Venetian waited for guests next door, and the other Winter in Venice festivities were held there including a culinary competition, a 65-foot LED Christmas tree, strolling musicians and live bands.
The 50-day celebration also included Grammy-winner Chip Davis’ “Mannheim Steamroller Christmas Las Vegas,” playing in The Palazzo Theater for six weeks.
