Aqueous has a few low-calorie options on its menu, but the mainstays of this restaurant are quite rich and not ideally suited to someone on a strict diet. However, the menu does include salads and a few seafood options, such as jerk-spiced escolar, wild striped bass with roasted eggplant cannelloni and organic Irish salmon with sweet potato galette, that have fewer calories than the heavier beef and rack of lamb plates.
Keep in mind that even some of the salads have extra ingredients that tack on significant calories, so you might, for example, want to request that the candied bacon in the iceberg wedge salad, or the asiago cheesecake in the golden beet and asparagus salad, be left out. If you do order a steak, you’ll have your choice of a few different “opportunities” which are big-enough-for-two sides. If you’re watching your waistline, skip the indulgent sides like mac and cheese and asiago risotto and opt for something healthier, like jumbo asparagus or sautéed spinach.
