There’s a reason The Belvedere has received the Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence for seven years in a row; The Peninsula Beverly Hills’ restaurant has several special and rare bottles of wine out of an inventory of more than 9,000 bottles, and a regular rotating selection of nearly 800 wine choices. Wine director David Jones is not only a master sommelier, he was also named Sommelier of the Year by the California Restaurant Writers Association in 2002. Jones, who joined The Peninsula team in mid-2010, chooses some serious bottles for the Beverly Hills hotel, and although the collection only includes one or two bottles of some of the more special or rare wines, you’re sure to find a gem. For instance, one knockout you’ll always find on the menu is the Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star hotel’s private label Keller Estate Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir.
