On the outside, Affinia Gardens may not look like anything special; but because it was originally erected as the first all-suite hotel in the 1960s, the roomy suites at this Upper East Side property feel more like home than a hotel. Modern dark-wood furniture and bright-colored sofas and accent pieces lend a cozier feel than the stark-and-sleek options available at so many other high-end hotel options, and some ground-floor suites even have outdoor patios. Custom beds come with a six-choice pillow menu, including a magnetic-therapy pillow and one that contains ultra-thin speakers you can plug an iPod into. There's no onsite restaurant, but all rooms have kitchens, and the concierge services include 24-hour takeout food delivery. The hotel has also has a pet program that includes a dog-walking service.
