This sushi bar broke culinary ground when it opened in 1987 and began serving lobster
ceviche and sashimi with cilantro or garlic, influences acclaimed chef Nobu Matsuhisa
picked up cooking in Peru. Given the vast menu, regulars recommend putting
yourself in the chef’s hands with the omakase tasting menu. Though Matsuhisa later
opened the more stylish Nobu chain with partners that include Robert De Niro, the
original restaurant remains casual.
