In the more than ten years since the Southwestern haven known as Mesa Grill opened its tall blond-wood doors and chef/owner Bobby Flay reached stardom on cable TV's Food Network, he has, impressively, managed to keep his creative eye on this, his first restaurant. The vaulted, lively room remains a popular spot for margarita-soaked happy hours, as well as a top choice for superb Southwestern-inspired American fare. The vibrant menu changes with the seasons, but famous plates include the cotija-crusted quesadilla stuffed with goat cheese, basil, and red chiles, topped with a charred corn salsa; and the 16-spiced chicken with mango garlic sauce and cilantro-pesto mashed potatoes. Flay’s food is not shy, so keep a cold margarita handy to soothe the heat.
