While public transportation is not as reliable or as frequented as the systems in cities like Washington D.C. or New York, there are a few options near Mandarin Oriental, Miami. The Eighth Street Metromover Station is the closest transit station to the Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star hotel. This stop, part of the city’s Metromover light rail system, is located at 59 SE 8th Street, three blocks away from the Mandarin Oriental once you walk over the bridge from Brickell Key to the mainland.
The Metromover is free and runs in short loops around downtown Miami, with stops at Bayfront Park, the Freedom Tower (near the American Airlines Arena), Government Center and the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts.
There’s also the Metrorail train system, which services Hialeah to the north and Coconut Grove and Dadeland to the south; the fare is $2. To transfer to the Metrorail, you can take the Metromover two stops south to the Brickell Station, at SW 1st Avenue and SW 11th Street.
If you’d prefer to take a bus, the #248 bus is the only Miami-Dade Metrobus that stops on Brickell Key, but more buses are available once you are on the mainland in the Brickell and downtown neighborhoods.
