A family-friendly Miami-area getaway
Set along two-and-a-half miles of pristine white sandy beach, Marenas Beach Resort in Sunny Isles, Florida, is an idyllic tropical escape for families. With its prime location near golf courses and shopping, suite-style accommodations, intimate boutique hotel ambiance and warm vibe, Marenas is a comfortable place to enjoy the beautiful Miami-area beaches with several spots to eat and imbibe.
Just like the Miami hotel's name (mar means "sea" and arenas means "sands"), the décor is modern and beachy with a serene palette of turquoise and natural hues accented by light woods and frosted aquamarine glass. All accommodations feature pillow-top king-sized beds, spacious bathrooms, floor-to-ceiling windows and private balconies overlooking the Intracoastal Waterways or the Atlantic Ocean. (Just try to book a room without a stellar view.)
The One and Two Bedroom Suites are ideal for families and have stocked kitchens with stainless-steel and granite countertops, dining and living areas, and a washer and dryer. The Ocean Front Two-Story Penthouse Suite features a home theater, large dining room and spiral staircase leading to a sprawling rooftop terrace decked out with a Jacuzzi, more dining space and chaise lounges.
You can easily spend an entire day outside here at heated outdoor pool, the beach and the poolside restaurant. Private cabanas, beach chairs and umbrellas are all available to rent. Kids have their own section of the beach replete with toys and shade. Other amenities include a 24-hour fitness center, heated Jacuzzi and free Wi-Fi. The resort's ideal location midway between Miami and Fort Lauderdale also makes it easy to access all of the area's happenings, from the glam South Beach nightlife to high-end shopping at the luxe Bal Harbour Shops to championship golf courses.
For onsite dining, Marenas' signature Caracol Restaurant serves a menu of both American and Latin cuisine infused with Miami's traditional tropical flavors set in an elegant, casual atmosphere. The simple and subdued décor of natural woods, glass top tables and modern art on the walls lets both the food and the view shine — soaring floor-to-ceiling windows provide epic sights of the sparkling Atlantic. The M Bar & Lounge off the lobby, outfitted with a rich cherry wood wall and illuminated wine wall, is a good spot for happy hour, a pre-dinner cocktail or a nightcap.
The luxury hotel is working on exciting new programming. Plan to sign up for yoga on the terrace overlooking the ocean. For the little ones, Marenas will offer fun bath-time and activity kits as well as deliver cookies and milk with bedtime stories to your room. Caracol's chef Carlos Candelaria also will do cooking classes at the restaurant and enhance the in-room dining menu with a selection of imported wines.
