This elegant, sun-lit Midtown spot is really two restaurants in one—the sophisticated Dining Room and a less-formal Bar Room. Split up in two rooms separated by frosted glass, both restaurants reside in The Museum of Modern Art, and most seats afford great views of the MoMA sculpture garden next door. Chef Gabriel Kreuther creates bold, flavorful dishes, such as chorizo-crusted codfish with white cocoa bean purée and harissa oil; roasted lobster with salsify and apple; and a Pennsylvania duck breast with a black trumpet marmalade, fleischschneke and banyuls jus. In the less-formal Bar Room, you can find an earthy menu emphasizing small plates with big tastes, such as a pasta dish elevated by chewy, salty escargots and fragrant wild mushrooms.
