A pretty seaside spa in Connecticut
11 Treatment Rooms
Sanno Spa at Saybrook Point is on the quiet, picturesque Connecticut shoreline where the Connecticut River meets the Long Island Sound, an ideal spot for a peaceful New England getaway. The name “Sanno” is derived from a Latin word that means “to make sound, cure, heal and restore health.”
The spa is an integral part of Saybrook Point Inn, Marina & Resort and its goal is to have you not only looking good, but feeling good, too. That shouldn’t be a problem with the slew of treatment options and the high-end spa products available — top-notch amenities like saltwater pools and steam rooms certainly don’t hurt, either.
After checking in, you are guided to a locker room where you can don one of the plush, white Sanno terrycloth robes with its embroidered logo and a pair of bronze spa sandals. The entire spa draws inspiration from its beachy surroundings and is decorated with a color palette of muted tones of gray, white, beige and blue.
Bright and clean, the locker rooms are stocked with a host of toiletries and other personal items so you can easily get ready post-treatment without lugging your things in to the Connecticut spa. There are several private changing areas and the Swiss showers are a real treat.
Sip wine, eat light snacks or read while you wait for your service in the serene and cozy coed relaxation lounge located just outside of the locker rooms.
Upon settling into one of the 11 soundproof treatment rooms, you have a variety of aromatherapy scents from which to choose. The fragrances, which are diffused during the treatment, help to further enhance the spa experience by addressing your individual desires.
You’ll find a diverse menu of services for men, women, couples and larger groups. Opt from a long list of massages, body treatments, facials, indulgent packages, manicures and pedicures, waxing and services featuring the Jane Iredale mineral makeup and skincare line.
Speaking of which, shop the great selection of organic and natural-based products from brands like Eminence Organic Skin Care, Aromatherapy Associates, SkinCeuticals and SpaRitual.
The indulgent Ocean Memory body treatment takes its cues from the spa’s maritime surroundings — ingredients like self-heating algae mousse are used to polish and detoxify skin before a relaxing massage. The Kate, named after Katharine Hepburn, who was a nearby resident, is a sea-inspired service that includes an exfoliation, a rinse and an application of skin-nurturing moisturizers.
Guests who book spa packages have access to the well-equipped fitness center, saltwater indoor and outdoor pools, sauna, steam room and whirlpool. The pools are maintained at 85 degrees and are open year-round.
If you wish to stay overnight, a variety of accommodations are available at the main inn or at either of the guest houses across the street. Take in the most breathtaking and unobstructed views of the sunrise and sunset over the Long Island Sound from the two guest houses or from the resort’s marina.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are available at Fresh Salt restaurant, also located in the same building as the Sanno Spa.
