The Cottages & Lofts at the Boat Basin is made up of 24 cottages and five lofts spread out along Nantucket Town’s Boat Basin. Both cottages and lofts are available as studios or with one, two or three bedrooms. They are exceptionally family-friendly, with full kitchens — a rarity in Nantucket accommodations due to strict construction codes — complimentary Wi-Fi and children’s amenities such as Pack ’n Plays available by request. Twelve of the cottages are pet-friendly “Woof Cottages;” the luxury hotel goes above and beyond for your furry companion, in fact, with a welcome amenity (a bag of goodies and a personalized tag with your dog’s name and the hotel’s contact information) and a “pawparazzi” shot of your puppy enjoying his or her beach vacation.

The lofts are newer than the cottages, and all are second-story accommodations perched above a restaurant or shop. The tradeoffs for having to climb a few stairs are many. First, there are the to-die-for water views. Then, the contemporary blue and white décor and modern kitchens with stainless-steel appliances. There are outdoor spaces, too — the newest loft, named Crow’s Nest, comes with a bird’s-eye view of the harbor and a large deck with a dining set and wooden Adirondack chairs for lounging. Cottages have more traditional, seaside-inspired interiors than the lofts, but all the same amenities, including full kitchens, and many have patios or decks for getting even closer to the scene outside. Each type of guest room also includes conveniences like daily housekeeping, flat-screen TVs, DVD players, hair dryers and Keurig coffeemakers. The Cottages & Lofts at the Boat Basin is a great option if you’re looking for the freedom of a rental condo with the amenities of a hotel.
