Cain [Vineyard & Winery] has always been one of my favorites. Chris Howell, the winemaker, has been there since the beginning. He's way up in the mountains; the views he has are just unparallel, as is his wine. As a sidenote, I shot three episodes of Simply Ming — with my parents — so it's an old, old relationship.

But there are so many; wines in California are as amazing as anywhere else now.

If you want the best boutique wineries in Napa, try one of my top selections:

Meteor. Located in Coombsville, one of the newest AVAs, Meteor’s vineyards have the extraordinary advantage of rich, stony soils, elevation, and the unique cool mico-climate that creates some of the finest and most distinctive cabernets in Napa. Of course, the talented winemakers have a major hand in the creation of the wines, too, but it all starts in the vineyard.

Corison. It’s tiny in production, but highly respected by winemaking peers and oenophiles for the elegant and vibrant wines made by Cathy Corison.
