The best time to visit Harrah’s New Orleans depends on what you’re looking for: an all-out party, music or travel deals. New Orleans is chock-full of year-round fun but springtime showcases the bluebird skies, pleasant temperatures and some of the city’s best festivals. Mardi Gras parades and balls kick off the revelry in February or March (depending on the year). The second weekend of April, the completely free French Quarter Festival showcases New Orleans’ best homegrown jazz, brass, roots, rock and Cajun bands with Jackson Square and the Mississippi River as backdrops. Wrapping up the season the last weekend of April and the first weekend of May is the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. Over seven days, local and national acts perform on twelve stages and vendors dish up iconic festival fare like crawfish Monica (creamy crawfish pasta). Summer is obviously very hot, but if you can stand the heat — or humidity, rather — the upside is that you’ll find plenty of deals in July and August. Things begin to cool off in the fall, when the parades pick up again. Christmas is another festive time with all the merriment and lights of Fulton Street.
