A hip and trendy boutique hotel in downtown Manhattan, Dream Downtown is the place for travelers who want a European vibe and an energy-packed scene. The rooms are on the smaller side — that’s no surprise in New York City — but you’ll love the porthole windows and circular themes found in the contemporary, metallic-clad rooms. Expect long lines outside of the hotel during the evening hours, as people clamor to get in to hot spot PH-D, Dream Downtown’s rooftop bar. The hotel will see even more crowds when the first stateside location of London restaurant La Bodega Negra (it will be called Bodega Negra) starts serving its Mexican street food there in early 2014. It will join Cherry, a French-tinged Japanese restaurant with a killer sake list.
One of the highlights of the Meatpacking District hotel, other than its rocking nightlife, is the summertime pool scene, where guests camp out in the early morning hours for a prime seat by the water’s edge. You’ll find the pool packed through sunset (after noon, it’s adults only). Grab a chaise lounge and sip on a fruity all-natural Kelvin slushie (popular food truck Kelvin Natural Slush Co. supplies the treats) and immerse yourself in the vibe of the fun-loving hotel.
