Considering it opened in April 2013, Hyatt Union Square New York boasts new rooms and suites that flaunt the latest and greatest amenities. With just 178 rooms, each one feels unique. The regular rooms (studios) feel spacious, especially by New York standards, and about 30 percent of guest rooms have an open-bath floor plan that makes these rooms feel even bigger. All of the accommodations boast wood floors, Italian millwork and a cork wall, adding a decidedly contemporary feel to the room. You won’t find much artwork in the rooms, but one really striking piece comes in the form of a headboard. Created by a Scottish designer, the cushions have a spring/summer design on one side and a fall/winter theme on the other.
Another interesting aspect of the rooms at Hyatt Union Square is the fact that 10 rooms are designated as women’s rooms, which means that these are never at the end of the hallway and feature more feminine amenities. Another 10 rooms, which are located on the second floor, sport beautiful terraces — a rarity in New York.
