In true New York fashion, The Peninsula New York serves up a delicious à la carte brunch on Saturday and a champagne buffet brunch with live music on Sunday at Fives, the Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star hotel’s contemporary American restaurant. Named for the hotel’s location on Fifth Avenue at 55th Street, Fives offers a quintessential Midtown Manhattan vibe with cushy leather seating, crisp white-clothed tables and views of Fifth Avenue.
On Sunday, the champagne cocktails flow endlessly and the buffet snakes around the restaurant laden with offerings like a seafood bar with raw shellfish, an omelet bar where a chef creates made-to-order eggs and a dessert bar with a milk chocolate fountain. Menu items change each week depending on the season, but have included selections such as roasted rack of lamb with polenta and sun-dried tomatoes and eggs Florentine with caviar and lobster-hollandaise sauce.
Kids will adore the knee-high buffet just for them with options like PB&J, pizza, mac ‘n’ cheese and fruit salad. There’s also a candy station (don’t worry there are carry-out boxes if you want to pace the sugar consumption) and photo ops with The Peninsula’s mascot, Peter Bear.
Brunch is served from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. both days at Fives; reservations are required on Sundays.
