Always dreamed of that classic New York wedding? Well, you were probably thinking of holding it at The Peninsula New York, which offers several elegant, quintessentially Manhattan wedding venues. Of the five function rooms at the Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star hotel, we preferred the 1,600-square-foot Gramercy Room, because of its natural light and large windows overlooking Fifth Avenue. Draped in silk, the venue is the largest and most eye-catching of the function rooms, accommodating up to 180 people for a reception or 130 for a banquet. Want a more intimate space? The four other rooms can accommodate 25 to 40 people and are perfect for a small, private affair.
If you’re getting married in the summer, the perfect outdoor venue is the trendy rooftop lounge, Salon de Ning, which features views of the New York skyline and Fifth Avenue. Romantic and cozy, the lounge décor is reminiscent of 1930s Shanghai with an eclectic art collection, topiaries and plenty of outdoor seating topped with pillows. Salon de Ning can accommodate up to 250 guests.
If you’re imagining a private fête with your family and closest friends, you could also reserve the Peninsula Suite for a penthouse apartment-style wedding. At 3,300 square feet, the suite is the height of luxury with crystal lamps and a grand piano. Guests can enjoy their dinner in the dining room and enjoy the 19th floor views of Fifth Avenue and 54th Street.
The West terrace at Salon de Ning is absolutely perfect for a wedding ceremony and or cocktail reception. With the sun setting in the Manhattan skyline you and your guests are bathed in the tranquil blush of the city. The Gramercy Room is ideal for a reception with dinner and dancing.
